Background

The City of Oroville listened to the concerns of the local Community and committed its negotiation process to funds that would provide recreation projects to the Community. The Department of Water Resources (DWR) and State Water Contractors (SWC) have proposed to endow Oroville, through the Supplemental Benefits Fund (SBF) a total of $61,270,000 to be paid in annual installments. The SBF will provide financial means for the community to also develop projects outside the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Final agreement signing is planned to be mid 2009.

Community Benefits

The economic and recreational benefits provided from the Supplemental Benefits Fund allows opportunities for job creation, tourism, and local recreation.  Much of the recreational and economic development will occur along Oroville’s most prized natural resource, the Feather River.  The Waterfront Development Concept is designed to integrate the Feather River with the Oroville Community.
