I grew up in a small desert town, Ridgecrest, adjacent to a Naval Base. As a teen I began babysitting many of the children in our neighborhood. I quickly learned that I loved working with children. After high school I attended Bakersfield College and eventually earned my Life Time Teaching Credential in 1977. I returned to Ridgecrest and began teaching child development courses at Cerro Coso, the local community college. I taught there for six years before my husband and I decided to move our family out of the desert. For years we looked for property all over Northern California and finally decided on beautiful Oroville. In 1980 we moved to Oroville with our two children. We started a family business, Oroville Gymnastics Sports Academy, in 1983 which prospered until 2010. I received my State of California Master Teacher Credential in the field of child development in 2000 and continued my journey working with children. I have been teaching for 46 years. I love working with children with special needs and sensory processing disorders and have discovered the joy of working with seniors. I learned as we become seniors we need to exercise our bodies and brains just as we did when we were kids. This prompted me to created “Brains In Motion” for Boomers. This class helps seniors exercise their Brain and Bodies to mentally prepare to tackle the tasks of daily life. I am so excited to be teaching Brains In Motion through Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at CSU, Chico. (OLLI). I was elected to the Feather River Recreation and Parks District (FRRPD) Board in 2013 to a four year term. My first year has not only been an amazing learning experience, it has also been one of the most amazing years of my life serving the community and working with the current Board Members and our new General Manager. I am proud to be a part of this amazing team of individuals who look forward to improving the district. I have great and wonderful visions for our parks and community. I am very excited to continue serving this community. I will continue making what I feel are the best decisions for this district and its citizens.
Smile every day!!
