About Martin Luther King Jr. Park
Martin Luther King Jr. Park is a vibrant community park featuring a lighted multipurpose field, basketball courts, playground, covered amphitheater, and picnic area with barbecue grills. The park provides a welcoming space for sports, family gatherings, community events, and celebrations, with select facilities available for reservations.
In Fall 2021, 54 trees were planted throughout the park through funding from a Proposition 68 grant and in partnership with the Oroville Botanic Garden and Education Center (OBGEC). The planting included American Sycamore, Chinese Pistache, and Interior Live Oak trees. Community members, the Southside Community Center, and FRRPD worked together to plant the trees, adding shade and enhancing the park's natural setting.
